Using the Arboretum’s Wireless Networks
The Arboretum has established a wireless network in and around the major buildings to provide internet and network connectivity to users who make a request through their supervisors. There are three wireless networks that is available for employees:
-
Morton WiFi: This is the public WiFi, accessible to everyone. No password is required. It is located in VC, Library, and Thornhill.
-
Morton_Guest: This network is accessible inside the Admin and Research buildings. It requires a password. Staff will not be able to network drives (e.g., S Drive) using Morton_Guest.
-
Morton_Internal: This network is accessible to Arboretum employees only on IT-approved devices (Arboretum-owned laptops and PCs). Using this network should be limited to accessing business applications and network drives. For business-sensitive information it is recommended to use a wired connection in order to avoid data breach incidents.
Guests and staff with devices like smartphones and iPad are recommended to use the public Morton WiFi or Morton_Guest network depending what is available in that location.
Please see the electronic communication policy in the Employee Handbook for appropriate use of the Arboretum communication network and systems. Users must adhere to this policy while using the WiFi.
